  • Job Summary

    • Supervises the daily activity of the Security Department
    • Supervises Security Officers (hiring, performance management, scheduling)
    • Investigates breaches of Security, Fire/Safety Violations, complaints and other assignments affecting the staff, patients, visitors and others while on hospital premises and makes formal recommendations.
    • Recognizes the difference in “normal” and “deviant” behavior and takes appropriate action as needed.
    • Regularly rounds on all departments with special emphasis on clinical departments. Solicits feedback and makes security and safety recommendations.
    • Responds to calls or alarms for assistance from hospital personnel and visitors.
    • Confronts and questions the troublemaker, victim, witnesses, etc., at scene of an incident to determine the reasons for a call for assistance.
    • Assists victims of accidents or assaults by calling for medical assistance, or assists in transporting to a specific location for medical treatment.
    • Oversees Security Officer investigations..
    • Ensures that all Incident Reports are completed timely.
    • De-Escalates individuals causing disturbances such as in family disputes, disrupting normal working operations, etc.
    • Provides crime prevention information and advice during patrols and when in contact with individuals.
    • Assists in directing traffic, as needed, ensuring normal traffic flow, especially during congested times such as shift change and when an accident has occurred.
    • Oversees a crime scene or accident scene, restricting access to those persons required on the scene until local law enforcement arrives.
    • Responds to all medical and psychiatric code calls to maintain area control; Responds to Fire and Panic/Duress Alarms and ensures proper action taken in accordance with established policies and procedures. Reports fire and safety hazards and takes immediate action to extinguish or control fires discovered and to temporarily correct unsafe conditions.
    • Keeps alert and responsive to situations requiring immediate and courteous assistance to patients, visitors and employees.
    • Completes and maintains appropriate records/documents pertaining to Security activities.
    • Completes administrative duties as assigned including, but not limited to reviewing shift reports and as assigned by Department Manager.

    Job Specifics

    Three Positions Available


    Day (7 am- 3:30 pm)

    Evening (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm)

    Night (11:00 pm - 7:00 am)


    High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    3 years of Security supervisory experience or 5+ years as a Police Officer.

    Familiarity with Joint Commission Environment of Care, Life Safety, Fire Risk and Security standards

    Demonstrated exceptional Customer Service

    Current NJ Drivers license
