  • Job Summary

    The Project Coordinator in the Plant Operations Department maintains proper licenses and certifications pertaining to the job’s position and obtains local construction permits as required.

     

    The Project Coordinator is required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. He makes recommendations to the architects, designers, engineers and consultants regarding mechanical, electrical and plumbing, (MEP) and architectural design on all renovation and construction projects. He has knowledge of hospital’s emergency code system. He is capable of understanding and interpreting architectural and MEP diagrams and blue prints. Provides assistance to contractors, as well as in-house Maintenance Mechanics, HVAC Mechanics and Stationary Engineers in order to meet departmental goals and objectives. Assists in the training process of staff members and participates in snow removal activities as needed.

     

    Works closely with Department Supervisors and Lead personnel and assists and collaborates with the daily operations of the department. He coordinates job site projects with staff and oversees the daily construction activities from contractors and in-house staff. He adheres to and supervises staff to follow all policy and procedures of the Environment Care and collaborates closely with division’s lead personnel Infection Control Practitioners and Safety personnel.

     

    The Project Coordinator is also responsible to prepare construction and vendor agreements. Submits orders for parts, supplies and equipment for the projects and furnishes the appropriate documentation in accordance with stablished policies and procedures.

    Has knowledge of project management and adheres to timelines. Keeps an up-to date detailed spreadsheet of all project related expenses including in-house labor hours for each project.

     

    Treats everyone with dignity and respect.

     

    Acts as designee to the Director of Plant Operations in his absence.

    Requirements

    Completion of high school or trade school required. Minimum 3-years experience in construction in a commercial environment. State of NJ Electrical or Plumbing License preferred. Hospital experience also preferred. Must be familiar with NFPA and other applicable state and regulatory codes applicable to the position.
