Job Summary

The facility Chief Medical Officer is a physician leader and manager for continuous quality improvement, effective clinical resource management and a liaison for organized medical staff activities. He/she must be a leader in the transformation from volume to value, be ready to create a foundation for Population Health and foster clinical transformation. The CMO actively supports and promotes patient safety, continuous performance and quality improvement, risk management, and efficient resource utilization linked highly to evidence based medicine. Demonstrates responsiveness to the concerns and needs of senior management, physicians, and the organized medical staff and fosters a close relationship between and among physicians, management and clinical staff. Demonstrates project management skills with the ability to measure performance and identify goals, assemble and lead effective teams, and achieve and sustain successful outcomes.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRES:

  1. Education: A Medical Degree required with a minimum of 10 years clinical experience. An advanced degree in healthcare or business administration a plus.

 

  1. Experience: Minimum 10 years experience in a leadership and management role. Management and/or quality management education and training a plus. Expertise in process improvement and data analysis and the use of information systems to develop and support outcome measurement and management desirable.

 

  1. Licenses: Board certification in a clinical discipline and licensed in the State of New Jersey.

 

OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • This leader has an established track record of accomplishments in medical management, particularly involving successful, collaborative work with physicians.

 

  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to measure performance and identify goals, assemble and lead effective teams, and achieve and maintain successful implementations.

 

  • Additionally, this physician should have experience in healthcare quality, resource management, outcomes improvement and patient safety.

 

  • There is an expectation that the physician will be able to work with sophisticated information systems and assist in their implementation in clinical settings.

 

  • There is an expectation that this physician leader is well grounded in clinical medicine and an active life-long learner.
